Our community continues to pray with and for our sisters and brothers of Haiti who have suffered through the catastrophic earthquake. Going forward, we will continue to offer the professional guidance and presence of the “Trauma Response Team” of Long Island University/C.W. Post. The director, Dr. Thomas Demaria and his associates are willing and able to help – free of charge – for group or individual counseling. All we need to do is to let him know. So, please call if you would like to avail yourself (or your family) of this service. There will continue to be a group support opportunity on Thursdays at 8 PM in Bethany Hall.
BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA: The Theodore Roosevelt Council (located in Massapequa) of The Boy Scouts of America have made a presentation to St. Martha’s Parish Council. We are being invited to operate a Scouting unit that will help enrich the lives of our young people so that they will make a difference in the kind of adult they will become. Youth in Scouting develop into leaders who have integrity, are responsible, and show reverence for God and respect for their country. This partnership of Scouting will provide a fun and exciting venue for St. Martha’s to serve our own youth and families, and also to reach others in the community. Under a charter, St. Martha’s agrees to provide adequate meeting facilities and quality leadership for the unit. That’s where you come in! We are looking for a few adults to take a leadership role in this with Alex Ticas, a member of our youth group (U-Strong) and a member of the Parish Council. Please contact Alex (ASAP) if you can assist in this important youth endeavor.
